To participant in the Rate Of Change Study
- Tap this TestFlight link using the iPhone your Apple Watch is paired with. (Installation of the app from TestFlight indicates acknowledgement of the privacy info and participant requirements below.) TestFlight will install Cue My Heart directly to your Apple Watch so your iPhone is only necessary for installation. All other functions run on your Apple Watch. Once installed perform one or more of the steps below as requested by your investigator.

- If no specific instructions are given, each participant is asked to perform these tasks within a 2 week period:
- Foster Talk Test two times. It’s OK to do the talk test before one of the high – low – high workouts.
- Five guided high – low – high cardio sessions of 20 to 30 minutes.

- To share rate of change data from previous workouts
- Be sure your watch (or paired iPhone) has an active internet connection
- Open Cue My Heart on your Apple Watch, tap CUE , wait 10 seconds, then swipe right and tap End.
- To perform a Foster Talk Test
- Open Cue My Heart on your Apple Watch, tap CUE , then swipe right and tap Talk. A voice will guide you through the test. Review these steps before starting so you’ll know what to expect.
- Begin with a brief warm up. It can be a few to several minutes but make sure your heart rate elevates and you feel your muscles well-engaged before tapping Warm on the screen.
- Allow your heart rate to come back to a comfortable, non-working rate. Again, it may a minute or more, but when you feel your working level has reduced, tap Ready.
- Begin increasing your heart rate by gradually increasing workout intensity. Recite a verse or poem (some use the pledge of allegiance) out loud for about 15 seconds. Notice how you feel when trying to talk. Increase intensity and recite the verse every 30 seconds. When you struggle a bit to recite the verse, tap Maybe.
- Continue increasing your heart rate by gradually increasing workout intensity. Continue to recite the verse or poem out loud every 30 seconds. When you can no longer recite the verse, tap NO.
- When the talk test is complete, swipe right and tap End.
- Open Cue My Heart on your Apple Watch, tap CUE , then swipe right and tap Talk. A voice will guide you through the test. Review these steps before starting so you’ll know what to expect.
- To perform a high – low – high workout
- Open Cue My Heart on your Apple Watch, then tap CUE
- Follow the voice cues to your high target heart rate then recover to your low target heart rate. Repeat for up to 5 loops or 30 minutes.
- Swipe right and tap Goal to change difficulty. Try to do at least 2 of your 5 high – low – high sessions at a difficulty of tough.
- High – low – high workouts should be 20 – 30 mins in length or at least 5 loops.You can use any cardio mode you choose, but be sure you can hear the vocal cues and increase or decrease your work safely when cued.
- When you finish your high – low – high workout, swipe right and tap End to complete your workout so your data can be saved and added to the study data.
- Privacy & Requirements to Participate
- This test is for people 18 or older, with moderate or greater physical fitness, cleared by their physician for intense cardiovascular exercise.
- If your heart rate does not appear when running the app, verify in Apple Watch Settings app > Health > Apps > Cue My Heart > Turn on all
- Your heart rate and Talk Test results are uploaded each time you tap End when wifi or cellular is available.
- Your Apple Watch’s name is used to identify data from multiple sessions so please make sure your Apple Watch name contains no sensitive information. For example, first name/last initial is fine but social security number, DOB etc. should not be used.
